Mercer University, Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling; Georgia State University, Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience

While reading the autobiography of a world-renowned pediatric neurosurgeon, I experienced an “Aha” moment and set my intention to understand what motivates human behavior. In college, Neuroscience introduced me to the study of the brain. I participated in special programs aimed at providing knowledge, resources, and training to support marginalized groups. After completing my undergraduate studies, I focused on gaining competence on the various functions of human behavior in children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). By studying Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and providing 1:1 therapy to children and adolescents in their homes, communities, schools, and clinical settings, I learned how to observe behaviors more closely and became more interested in providing psychological and emotional support to help individuals overcome challenges. In 2020, I pursued a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. In my graduate internship experience, I worked as a therapist providing trauma-informed psychotherapy to individuals presenting symptoms for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Anxiety, and/or Depression. I found my purpose. In my current work, I am a Psychotherapist and Special Education teacher, supporting students in the self-contained Emotional/Behavioral Disorder (EBD) setting. As a survivor of complex trauma, I balance my lifestyle regularly hiking, journaling, and focusing on building a deeper connection with myself and others.
