College of William & Mary Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling

I am a Clinical Mental Health Therapist with a focus in Traumatic Stress. She specializes in the intersection of ancestral and intergenerational trauma, familial behavioral and/or thought patterns and the connection to physiological symptoms and chronic illness. Shar is committed to offering an integrated approach to healing that encompasses physical, emotional, and psychological aspects. This approach is rooted in the belief that the body has a remarkable ability to heal itself when given the right support. Her treatment sessions include psychoeducation to clients on the mind body connection as well as providing therapeutic tools to process and recover from emotional and psychological pain. I have a background in Physical Therapy which allows me to help clients process and relieve trauma in the body. I practice what I teach by incorporating yoga, mindfulness and creativity in my personal life. I am currently working on a knitting project which helps me relax and connect with present moment awareness. My ideal client is someone who is living with symptoms of generational trauma (anxiety, depression, neurodiversity, codependency, etc.) and is seeking holistic ways to manage their symptoms. They are anxious, hypervigilant and have trouble meeting their own needs. They often have trouble feeling safe in their body, experience an overwhelm of emotions or just the opposite, are completely numb. Their goal is to improve overall life satisfaction and identify coping strategies that will help improve emotional regulation and lessen their trauma symptoms.
