California State University, Long Beach, Master of Social Work

Hi, I’m Marion Rodriguez and I was inspired to become a therapist after mentoring a high school senior experiencing homelessness, which showed me how powerful support and connection can be. Since then, I’ve worked with teens, adults, and families in settings such as substance abuse counseling, homeless services, and community mental health workshops. I received my degree in Human Services with a focus on mental health recovery and went on to earn my Master of Social Work. My approach is warm and approachable — I want clients to feel truly heard, never judged, and supported in reaching their goals. I often use Trauma-Focused CBT, Mindfulness, Internal Family Systems, and EMDR to help teens feel more regulated and walk away with skills they can use in daily life. When I’m not in session, you can find me at the beach, on a road trip to somewhere new, listening to live music, or watching movies with my 1.5-year-old. Growing up, I played soccer, rugby, practiced martial arts, acted in school plays, and even joined the animal rights club — so I know how important it is to explore your interests and have supportive people around you during the middle and high school years. My message to anyone new to therapy is this: it’s so much less awkward than you think, and it can really help with whatever stress you’re going through. It can only help — it will never do any harm.
