Claudia Chavarria

USC, Master in Social Work

Hello! My name is Claudia Chavarria, and I’m a mental health therapist with over 17 years of experience in social work. Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to support children and adolescents ages 6 to 18 in school settings including elementary, middle, and high schools. I specialize in helping students navigate challenges related to emotions, behaviors, stress, trauma, relationships, and overall mental well being. My work is rooted in building strong, trusting relationships with both students and families. I believe mental health is just as important as physical health, and that when we create spaces to talk, listen, and grow, young people thrive—both in and out of the classroom. Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, running, spending time at the beach, and being outdoors. I also love trying new foods, caring for my outdoor mostly succulent plants, and most of all, spending quality time with my family. Fun fact: I like to plan races throughout the year in different cities so I can explore the food scene and beautiful sceneries afterwards. My passion for mental health comes from a deep belief that every child deserves to be seen, heard, and supported. Whether it’s through therapy, or simply being a consistent, caring adult in a student’s life, I’m here to help young people and their families move forward with confidence and care. My ideal client is a child or teen who’s experiencing emotional challenges like anxiety, depression, low-esteem, or difficulty managing stress. They may not always have the words to explain how they’re feeling, but deep down, they want to feel better. They want to stop overthinking, to stop feeling alone, and to regain a sense of control in their lives. They also want some they can trust and to help guide them there. With 17 years of experience as a social worker and mental health therapist, I specialize in helping children and adolescents ages 6-18 navigate life’s challenges. Using evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, I help young people understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings and actions and teach them tools to manage difficult emotions, build resilience, and feel more confident in themselves. But more than anything, I offer a safe space—a space where your child feels seen, heard, and supported without judgement. Therapy with me is not just about “fixing” problems. It’s about connection, growth, and helping your child discover their strengths so they can move forward with courage and clarity.
