Hi, I'm Anna, and I'm a counselor in North Carolina. I actually started out as a teacher, but after going through therapy myself and seeing how much it helped, I decided to switch careers and become a therapist. I've been doing this work for about 20 years now, and for the past 8 years I've been working as a school counselor with high school students. I'm also a mom to three daughters who are teens and young adults, so I see firsthand what you're dealing with - all the pressure, expectations, and big changes that come with this time in your life. It's a lot. When my family needs to decompress, we like to get outside - hiking, kayaking, taking the boat out. We also love movies, traveling when we can, and listening to live music. I'm big on being outdoors, spending time with our dog, and reading. I work with anyone who's curious about making changes and willing to try. Most people come to therapy because something isn't working the way they want it to. I beleive that when you feel heard and understood in a safe space, and when you have the right tools, you can get to a better place. I focus on what you're already good at and help you build from there. I use CBT, mindfulness practices, EMDR, and creative arts approaches to help with the stuff that tends to come up during the teen years, such as Anxiety, Depression, dealing with grief and loss, processing difficult experiences, and navigating big life changes and transitions. I'm not here to fix you - you're not broken. I'm here to support you and help you develop skills that actually work.
