Zaakia Bowens
Dallas Baptist University, Master's in Counseling
Zaakia Bowens is all about heart, healing, and helping families thrive. She earned her bachelor’s in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus on Early Childhood from Texas Woman’s University, and her master’s in Counseling from Dallas Baptist University. For over 27 years, she’s worn many hats—teacher, school counselor, drug prevention specialist, and college counselor—and now serves as a clinician in both the non-profit and private sectors. When she’s not supporting students and families, Zaakia is loving life as a wife and mom of three. She’s also a mentor, speaker, and a big believer in the power of community. Her self-care go-tos include pickleball, mini hikes, swimming, and traveling whenever she can. She’s known for reminding parents: “A healthy child is a gift to the whole world!” Life brings challenges—grief, family conflict, self-esteem struggles, emotional regulation, and financial stress—and it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. When parents are stretched thin, children’s emotional health can be impacted, too. But the good news is, healing is possible. Through therapy, families can learn simple, evidence-based tools that make a real difference. Together, we’ll build skills that promote connection, confidence, and calm—tools that will grow with you and become a natural part of your family life. I’m here to walk alongside you with a listening ear and a compassionate heart. Let’s begin the journey toward greater wellness—I can’t wait to meet you!
