Hello! Hola! My name is Yohanna (yo-ana) Cruz. I was born and raised in California. My parents are from Mexico. I speak English and Spanish. I would like to learn Mandorin or Cantonese. I love to be outside and travel, but most of my days I spend it at home with my three cute dogs! I love animals, plants, and people. I have been working with children and adolescents since I was 16 years old. I was an after-school program leader, a science camp mentor, teacher's assistant, and am currently a therapist. I strongly believe that I would not have been able to grow if it was not for those adults around me as a child. My goal is to do the same for the next generation. My ideal client is someone who struggles with feeling sad, uninterested in things that they used to enjoy, and feeling helpless or hopeless. Most clients who struggle with depression struggle with negative self-talk, involvement in activities, and verbalize sadness to others. The treatment goals will be: 1. The client will be able to identify negative self-talk at least one time per session. 2. Client will be able to verbalize sadness to others at least one time per week. 3. Client will also increase the number of positive affirmations in session.Depression can make an individual feel lonely and unheard, which is where I come in. Although I am a therapist, I strongly believe that the client is the expert of themselves. I help by listening without judgment and finding different perspectives as a team. We walk side by side to help understand the thoughts, emotions, and actions that come from depression.
