My ideal client would be someone is struggling with some mild/moderate anxiety who is struggling to build relationships with others due to their overthinking and past negative social interactions. I would like to help them by utilizing CBT skills in order to help challenge the way they view themselves and others. Along with some minor exposure therapy to help them visualize and work through possible scenarios that can happen in a social situation and how the client can better confront their social anxiety over time. With my person- centered approach to therapy, I would of course put heavy emphasis on the client-counselor relationship so that I can best work with where my client is at currently and where they would like to be in their therapeutic journey. Along with checking in them every session to monitor any possible progress and work through any new upcoming challenges that arise in this venture with them.
